The MDS software has been updated so the engine will spend more time in four-cylinder mode, providing a fuel economy benefit, depending on driving habits and conditions. The engine idles on eight cylinders for maximum smoothness, uses all eight for acceleration and heavy loads, and seamlessly transitions to four cylinders based on torque requirements, even at interstate highway speeds.
